Knitting

I learned to knit! I kinda taught myself through Youtube about 7-10 days ago. After spending a few days just doing practise stitches and such, I decided to tackle a pattern

I chose a diaper soaker. Here it is:

Just the first 10 rows-the ribbing.
10-15 more rows
Half way done (I totally messed up THREE times!) When doing the stockinette stitch I would stop knitting for awhile and then come back and forget whether I wad doing purl or knit and would end up doing the wrong one so it went (example: knit, knit, purl, knit, purl...instead of: knit, purl, knit, purl.) That made it "backwards" with the ugly stitch showing on the side that is supposed to be pretty so once I realized what was happening I would have to fix it by going (knit, knit, purl, knit, purl, knit, etc) Yes, I could have just undone it to fix it but I'm not that advanced and this was just practice anyways. :)
It looks oddly shaped b/c the ends were curling in and I couldn't get them to flatten out for the photo.
Finished the ribbing for the back half and sewed up the seams. Finished product:
It's supposed to have leg ruffles but I couldn't figure that out so I left it as is. It's also a size Large b/c I don't know how to adjust the pattern to fit Addie (sm/md) so it looks like shorts on Addie!
Action shot: (I've got the waistband folded down)

I realize the yarn is super ugly but since I was just practising I bought whatever was on sale! lol! It was like $2 a skein. I've got some nice, pretty wool on the way. ;)

Kristin, awesome job!!!! I am very impressed that you tackled and completed a pattern only days after you learned!! Seriously, you should be so proud! All the while watching three kids. LOL You will get the hang of which side is the knit/purl while doing stockinette and your stitches will look more consistent with size. I am seriously impressed at how fast you learned and did this. If the yarn is (non machine washable) wool, it will "felt" over time and all the stitches will blend together and it will shrink a little anyway.

Haha thanks! It took about 7 days to complete it. I really only had the time to do it during nap time and in the evening when DH was home. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out besides the little mess ups...I also got some holes in there from some accidental slipped stitches..I patched them up the best I could but it's quite far from perfect. :)
